These Terms & Conditions explain the conditions of purchasing products and installation services from JJ Blinds & Shutters, including product care, warranty coverage, customer responsibilities, repairs and warranty claims.

These terms apply to products supplied and installed by JJ Blinds & Shutters unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Our warranties are provided in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Product availability, specifications, materials, colours and warranty coverage may vary depending on the product selected.

2. Quotes and Order Confirmation

All quotations are based on the measurements, product selections, specifications and installation requirements confirmed at the time of quoting.

Before approving an order, customers should check:

  • Product type and design.

  • Window measurements and dimensions.

  • Fabric, colour and material selection.

  • Control side and operating direction.

  • Manual or motorised operation.

  • Mounting type and installation requirements.

  • Quantity and individual window locations.

  • Total price and any additional charges.

Orders are confirmed once the customer accepts the quotation and completes the required deposit or payment arrangement.

Changes requested after order confirmation may result in additional costs, revised manufacturing requirements or delays.

3. Custom-Made Products

Many JJ Blinds & Shutters products are custom-made according to individual window measurements and customer specifications.

Customers should carefully check the approved quotation and product selections before manufacturing begins.

Minor variations in fabric texture, colour, finish and appearance may occur due to manufacturing processes, material characteristics and lighting conditions.

Where a product is incorrectly manufactured or supplied, customers retain their rights under Australian Consumer Law.

4. Indoor Blinds – Product Information and Care

Our indoor blind range includes roller blinds, sunscreen blinds, blockout blinds, double roller blinds, Venetian blinds, vertical blinds and other selected blind systems.

Indoor blinds are designed for normal indoor use and must be operated according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Please note:

  • Sunscreen fabrics allow some natural light and visibility through the material.

  • Blockout fabrics are designed to significantly reduce incoming light, but small light gaps may remain around the edges.

  • Fabric colours may appear different under natural and artificial lighting.

  • Minor fabric characteristics and variations may occur as part of normal manufacturing.

  • Blinds should not be pulled, forced or operated beyond their intended movement.

Indoor blind care instructions

  • Dust regularly using a soft cloth or suitable duster.

  • Follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions.

  • Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals.

  • Do not use excessive water on fabrics or mechanisms.

  • Operate chains and controls gently.

  • Arrange an inspection if a blind becomes difficult to operate.

5. Curtains and Curtain Tracks

Our curtain range includes sheer curtains, S-fold curtains, blockout curtains and selected motorised curtain systems.

Curtains are manufactured according to the selected fabric, measurements and agreed specifications.

Fabric appearance, folds and finished lengths may vary depending on the material and manufacturing process.

Customers should follow the fabric supplier's cleaning instructions. Incorrect washing, ironing or dry cleaning may damage curtain materials.

6. Plantation Shutters and PVC Shutters

Plantation shutters are manufactured according to the selected product, material, configuration and approved measurements.

Depending on the material, minor variations in colour, finish and appearance may occur.

Shutter care

  • Clean using a soft cloth or suitable duster.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals and excessive water.

  • Do not force louvres or panels.

  • Keep hinges and operating mechanisms clean.

  • Avoid placing excessive weight on shutter panels.

7. Outdoor Blinds and Outdoor Products

Outdoor blinds are designed for outdoor environments. Their performance and lifespan depend on the selected product, installation conditions, weather exposure and correct operation.

Customers must:

  • Retract outdoor blinds during severe or unsuitable weather.

  • Follow the manufacturer's wind and operating limits.

  • Secure products using the supplied locking systems where applicable.

  • Avoid operating blinds when tracks or mechanisms are obstructed.

  • Keep fabrics and operating components clean.

  • Arrange an inspection if components become loose or damaged.

Outdoor blinds are not necessarily designed to withstand storms, extreme winds, hail or cyclone conditions.

Always follow the specific operating limits supplied for your outdoor blind system.

Damage caused by operation outside the product's specified weather limits may not be covered by the voluntary product warranty. This does not affect any rights available under Australian Consumer Law.

8. Motorised Blinds and Curtain Motors

Motorised systems may include electric motors, rechargeable batteries, power supplies, remotes, controllers and smart home accessories.

Customers should:

  • Use compatible chargers and power supplies.

  • Follow the manufacturer's charging instructions.

  • Avoid forcing motorised blinds or curtain tracks.

  • Keep operating tracks free from obstructions.

  • Use compatible remotes and controllers.

  • Follow the manufacturer's pairing and reset instructions.

Smart home compatibility, including Alexa and Matter, depends on the motor and controller selected. Not every motor supports every smart home platform.

Hardwired electrical connections must be completed by appropriately qualified personnel where required by law.

9. Five-Year Product Warranty

JJ Blinds & Shutters provides a five-year product warranty for eligible indoor blinds, outdoor blinds and supplied motorisation systems professionally installed by our team.

The five-year warranty covers eligible manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under normal intended use, subject to the conditions in this document and the applicable product warranty.

The applicable warranty period and coverage for these products will be provided in the quotation, product documentation or written warranty supplied at the time of purchase.

Unless specifically confirmed in writing, the five-year warranty above should not be assumed to apply to every product or accessory.

10. Twelve-Month Installation Workmanship Warranty

Our team will assess the issue and arrange an inspection if necessary.

The 12-month installation workmanship warranty is separate from the applicable product warranty.

11. Warranty Period and Commencement Date

The five-year product warranty and 12-month installation workmanship warranty commence from the date of installation recorded on the customer's invoice or installation documentation.

Customers should retain their invoice or proof of purchase as evidence of the installation date.

Warranty coverage applies to the original purchaser and the product installed at the agreed property, subject to applicable law.

The expiry of a voluntary warranty does not automatically end any rights a customer may have under Australian Consumer Law.

12. What Is Not Covered by the Voluntary Product Warranty?

The voluntary product warranty may not cover damage or failure caused by:

  • Accidental damage, impact or physical breakage.

  • Misuse, neglect or failure to follow operating instructions.

  • Outdoor blinds operated outside their specified weather or wind limits.

  • Electrical faults originating from the property's electrical supply or unrelated electrical systems.

  • Problems caused by accessories or third-party devices not supplied or approved for the system.

These exclusions apply to the voluntary warranty only and do not remove any rights or remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.

Timeframes may change due to supplier availability, manufacturing delays, transport conditions or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Where reasonably possible, customers will be informed of significant delays.

JJ Blinds & Shutters provides assessment and repair services for selected blinds, curtain tracks, shutters and motorised systems.

Repair availability depends on the product type, age, condition and availability of replacement components.

Customers should provide photographs and a description of the problem when requesting a repair.

Any chargeable repair work will be quoted or explained before proceeding.

17. Payments, Deposits and Order Changes
